Hayley Stevens Miller wins the Inaugural Extra Virgin Olive Oil Tasters’ Championship in the USA
Hayley Stevens Miller has won the inaugural North American Extra Virgin Olive Oil Taster’s Championship.
The Championship was part of the ‘Spend Wisely on Olive Oil’ Conference hosted this week in Chicago USA by the North American Olive Oil Association and Extra Virgin Olive Oil Savantes.
Hayley is the manager of the Saratoga Olive Oil Company and is a culinary instructor in a range of cuisines. She is fluent in French, Italian and Spanish and a skilled extra virgin olive oil taster having achieved Associate Savantes status, one of 15 worldwide.
Simon Field, founder of Savantes, congratulated, Hayley on being the Champion in the first of what he hopes will be many Savantes supported championships in many regions. He said that Hayley represents a new generation of highly skilled people who will lead the olive oil industry into the future.
Hayley’s prize is a week long culinary experience for two at a villa in Tuscany courtesy of ‘Olivaria Hand-picked Experience’.
The runner–up in the championship was Tomas Almeida from Sovena USA. Tomas received a selection of the most acclaimed extra virgin olive oils from the world’s producing regions.
Hayley is keen to return next year to defend her title.
