Taster’s Challenge
In 2016 the Olive Oil Confence Taster’s Challenge includes a new option for entries. The Challenge format is based on the International Extra Virgin Olive Oil format which assesses tasters’ ability to identify different oils including varieties and regions, intensity rankings, and faults or defect detection.
Individuals can benchmark their expertise by testing their abilities alongside other tasters all using the same format. The TEAM option allows for three individuals to compete as a group and combine scores for a Team Score to be compared to other teams. Whether entering as an individual or as part of a team, all participants will have the option of having their individual score assessed for Membership in the International of Olive Oil Team.
To enter the Challenge, you must register for the full conference or a July 20 Day Pass – there is no additional fee for entering the Challenge. Team registrations must be finalized by the close of the second day of the conference (July 19).
Everyone entering the Challenge will receive:
- A chance to become the Champion Taster of International Olive Oil Team
- Recognition of individual tasting skill
- Knowledge of areas for improvement related to tasting
- An opportunity to achieve Associate status
- Achievement Certificates will be presented to those achieving scores at each level
- Inclusion in the online International of Olive Oil Team Tasters
- Tasters are ranked based on overall score
