Taster’s Challenge

In 2016 the North American Olive Oil Taster’s Challenge includes a new option for TEAM entries. The Challenge format is based on the International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Savantes format which assesses tasters’ ability to identify different oils including varieties and regions, intensity rankings, and faults or defect detection.

Individuals can benchmark their expertise by testing their abilities alongside other tasters all using the same format. The TEAM option allows for three individuals to compete as a group and combine scores for a Team Score to be compared to other teams. Whether entering as an individual or as part of a team, all participants will have the option of having their individual score assessed for Membership in the International Register of Extra Virgin Olive Oil Savantes.

To enter the Challenge, you must register for the full conference or a July 20 Day Pass – there is no additional fee for entering the Challenge. Team registrations must be finalized by the close of the second day of the conference (July 19).
